OUR PROGRAMS - OVERVIEW

Our programs are designed to offer parents a variety of opportunities to enhance their parenting experience, build their confidence as parents and provide resources for them to become the parents they strive to be.

PARENTING INFORMATION
Family Connections recognizes that most parents find themselves faced with unexpected challenges and a lot of questions as their children grow, and we believe that all parents can benefit from information and support.

Take advantage of our parenting education series, individual parenting workshops, parent resource libraries, and Mini Parent resource centers.

ADULT- CHILD PLAYTIME
When parents (or other caregivers) play with their children, many good things happen.  This is why drop-in playgroup sessions at each of our centers are a core part of our programming.

SCHOOL READINESS
We now know how important the early years are for building a foundation for life-long learning.  Children who have the benefit of certain types of experiences and interactions in their early years will enter school better prepared to learn than those who don’t have the same types of exposure.

Family Connections offers a number of programs to help parents and other caregivers make sure their children have experiences that will help them develop the skills needed to succeed in school.

TOWARDS SCHOOL SUCCESS
Things have changed since today’s parents were in school.  School-age children, even kindergarteners, are expected to learn more at earlier ages today than even a decade or two ago.  A lot is expected of parents too!  Research has proven that parental involvement in school is one key to children’s school success, but becoming more involved isn’t always straight-forward when you consider how busy both parents and teachers are these days, not to mention changing curriculum and new technology.

Our Family-School Connection Program is made up of several components designed to meet the needs of families with a variety of supports for parent involvement in their children’s education.

SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORTS - FAMILY SUPPORT PROJECT
This free program offers support, information and encouragement to families raising pre-schoolers (ages 3-5 years) with special needs, through several programs & activities.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE – LEAF (Learning English as A Family)
Family Connections offers several supports for international families new to the United States and with limited English language skills.  This program is provided for a fee to employers who may offer it as a benefit for employees and their families.

FAMILY FUN ACTIVITIES
A number of events are held throughout the year, designed specifically to bring families with young children together for a fun community-based activity.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Health Literacy – Partnership with MomsFirst - MomsFirst is a City of Cleveland program that offers case management and home visiting services to pregnant moms until their baby reaches age two. We deliver the Health Literacy curriculum to the mothers in a group setting.
