Dinner & Discovery

Dinner & Discovery is a Family Connections program for kindergarten families at Lomond and Mercer Elementary Schools. The program was piloted at Lomond in the 2008-09 school year. Families come for dinner, a story time, and a chance to explore play activities together. The activities are designed to engage children’s imagination while supporting literacy and math skills like counting, sorting, rhyming and sequencing and problem solving. Parents are offered suggestions for extending the learning at home. Participation in this program is offered by invitation through the kindergarten teachers at Lomond and Mercer schools.

Dinner & Discovery is Family Connections’ first entry into the Shaker Heights School District. Families, teachers, and administration have embraced the program. We are delighted to be able to offer the program again this coming fall.
