Shaker Family Center Facility

The Shaker Family Center building, formerly Sussex Elementary School, houses Family Connections in addition to three independent early childhood programs:  Carol Nursery School, Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities (CCBMR/DD) and Early Childhood Enrichment Center.  Family Connections' community events, like Family Fall Funfest and DadsDay Run, are held on the grounds of the building. 

Located in the quiet, tree lined Sussex neighborhood, the Shaker Family Center facility offers a variety of grassy areas and playgrounds, and a charming seasonal garden, perfect for young children.  Ample parking is on the streets surrounding the facility or in the parking lot located off Lomond Boulevard.  

Recycling with Abitibi

Looking for a place to recycle all of your junk mail?  Two large yellow and green Abitibi bins are located in the parking lot.  Recycle office and school papers, newspapers, magazines, coupon inserts, wrapping paper and junk mail, by placing them into the bins.  Shredded paper ONLY should be placed in plastic bags.  All other paper should NOT be placed into bins in plastic bags.    Please do not put plastic, telephone books, trash and cardboard in the bins as these items will contaminate the load, making it unusable for recycling.

The Shaker Family Center facility receives a small profit provided by the recycling organization and it helps our environment!

Shop and Support Us with Market Day

Another way you can help support the facility is through Market Day, a monthly fundraising food program created to help raise  funds for non profit organizations, schools, and community groups.  

Choose from a huge variety of items like meats, produce, breakfast foods, kid-friendly snacks, desserts and much more.  Orders are available for pick up in the gym of the Shaker Family Center building on the designated sale date. 

Orders can be placed online at www.marketday.com  (enter account # 13622 to designate Shaker Family Center as pick-up location), or forms are available inside the building across from the Family Connections main office.  All orders must be submitted by the deadline date listed on back of order form or on Market Day website.
